Hi, I'm Amanda
Parenting my two young girls in the early years was hard. I was lost. I was alone. I was distracting and numbing with substances and scrolling because the mental load was too heavy and my marriage was breaking down.
As a clinical Nutritionist, I loved working with the body, especially the nervous system. My personal and clinical practice gave me a strong understanding of nervous system triggers and how to reset it in moments of activation, but parenting is constant activation and I knew I needed more. My children needed a better leader.
And then, I found a different way.
Six years ago, I made a life changing choice. I got sober after decades of substance abuse and began my personal practice in mindfulness, meditation and movement. This brought much needed clarity and stability to my life, after feeling lost and alone for so long.
I changed myself because I knew parenting would only get easier if I made it get easier and not from blaming my six year old and her inability to regulate her emotions.
I had a therapist, teachers, coaches and a dedicated practice. I was training my mind, working with my nervous system and healing my emotional wounds. All of this helped me to reparent myself, so I could be present with my children and see them for who they uniquely are, tantrums, talk back and everything. This is a life changer!

Your Three Essential Needs: Sunday 9th April
Explore the three essential needs for all human beings based on the work of Dr Rick Hanson, dismantle the modern day barriers to these needs met, and learn how to work with your nervous system in your everyday life so you can meet those needs for yourself and your children.
